Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. ~ Margaret Mead
Today’s solar eclipse is the final eclipse of the year, and from this point on things should begin to get clearer and move forward in a way that didn’t seem possible over the past few months. There are five retrograde planets at the moment, which means we tend to internalise a lot of the changes underway and feelings and emotions become intense. Outward action doesn’t flow as easily and it can feel like everything requires more effort to accomplish.
I have been noticing I’m feeling more anger these past few weeks, although there is nothing currently in my life that justifies it. Presumably, it’s whatever is lurking in my subconscious, or perhaps I’m picking up on the seething rage simmering nearly everywhere around the world.
On a personal and collective level, we are entering the home stretch towards a massively transformational phase coming in 2020, when Saturn meets Pluto in Capricorn. These next 18 months are a sort of karmic housekeeping which will determine what sort of institutions, governance and social systems we choose going forward, and how we want to contribute to that. What will your offering be? How much change do you want to see, and how do you want to achieve it?
The impact of this will be as great as the upheavals triggered by the Pluto-Uranus squares whose revolutionary energy was felt most powerfully from 2011 to 2015 and potentially more disruptive. The United States is coming up on its Pluto return (yes, countries also have birth charts!) with the 248-year cycle completing in 2024-25. This marks the fall of its empire, whose decline is already well underway. By way of comparison, the UK had it’s Pluto return in 1955 (and some Brits are only just getting the memo).
This partial solar eclipse is in Leo at precisely the same point where it happened on 11 August 1999. That year has been triggered for us quite a lot over the past 18-months, with a lot changing and being highlighted around whatever was emerging in the summer of ’99. Issues of children, creativity, new enterprises, new loves are likely to have been stirred up then, and a new 18- to 19-year phase has been dawning since last year.
Changes that started itching in February 2017 and began in earnest around the time of the August 2017 eclipses (give or take a few weeks) inspired you to find new goals in your self-expression, around children, in a new love interest or in a creative or entrepreneurial project, culminating in late January and into February of this year. The next full moon lunar eclipse coming up on 21 January 2019 will signal the completion of this transformative cycle, and your focus will then shift to new areas of your life.
What have you learned in the past 18 months? What have you discovered about yourself? What is still waiting to shine more brightly, to be noticed, or shared with all your heart?
Here are the areas of your life stimulated by this eclipse, and where you are likely to feel the most change in the next few months:
