What if we only ever had one problem?

“[…]tout le malheur des hommes vient d’une seule chose, qui est de ne pas savoir demeurer en repos dans une chambre.” “All of humanity’s misfortune comes from one thing: not knowing how to sit quietly in a room.” ~ Blaise Pascal How many problems do you feel you have at the moment? A Course in Miracles tells us “The temptation to regard problems as many is the temptation to keep the problem of separation unsolved…. All this complexity is but a desperate attempt not to recognize the problem, and therefore not to let it be resolved…. Perceiving the underlying constancy in all the problems that seem to confront you, you…

Follow the Path into the Unknown and find SPACE to shine

We are all created uniquely and have our own imbalances. Yoga can become our own inner medicine, when we know how to listen to what the body is asking for. Elemental Yoga is the practice of balancing the 5 Elements that we can see active in Nature and are in operation within us: Water, Space, Fire, Earth and Air. Within a journey in sync with the Seasons and the Moon’s cycles, it reconnects us to the forces of Nature and its deep healing power. The blossoming of flowers, longer days and stronger light suggest that the Spring season has arrived. That is the season when the Space Element can easily…

Align with Purpose – a Free Webinar with Susan!

Dear students and friends in yoga, We certainly are living in interesting times! We’ve gone through another eclipse cycle in the past couple of weeks, and the big question to ask yourself now is: Do I still love it/him/her? If the answer is NO, then it’s high time to move on! Who are you in that job, that relationship, that society? Does that role you play align with who you feel you can be? What doesn’t work for you? What are you modeling for your children, and for those looking up to you? “…the great chewing complacency.” Did you feel that?! Ouch! This is not about making a frivolous change.…

When retreating is the best way forward

Mercifully, a strong spiritual practice in crazy times offers a lot of clarity and a sense of purpose. I love the French expression “reculer pour mieux sauter” (step back to jump better), which nicely sums up the idea that we function best with a bit of perspective. When we step back, retreat and unplug for a while (minutes, hours, days…) we can reconnect with our essential self, our deepest desires, and aspirations for life. Retreating consciously allows us to find the inner calm that gets drowned out by the constant impulses of contemporary life. We are undoubtedly responsible for our perception of reality and so need to take care to know…

Ubuntu* ~ “I am what I am because of who we all are”

Twenty years ago this month I received my first yoga teacher certification in Goa, India. I didn’t see myself as a teacher at that time, just a seeker who needed to stretch out of the box I had put myself in since my high school years. Anyway, a certificate doesn’t make one a teacher and just as parents are born along with their child, teachers are born from their students. In the months following my training, friends started asking me to teach them something. So, bit by bit, I shared what I knew for free until friends of friends and then strangers started to join in, at which point I…

    Spiritual Awakening and Non-Duality

Friday 9th December 2016 from 19-21:00 (Participation by donation to Ajatananda Ashram) Join us for an in-depth look at Spiritual Awakening in the tradition of Advaita Vedanta. It is neither an experience, nor a state of being: it is simply a spontaneous and instant awareness of our True Nature (the Self). There is no “awakened being”, only pure Awakening… Swami…

    Equinox and Equilux: finding balance

Today is the Autumnal Equinox, exact this afternoon (Thursday 22nd, 16:21 in Brussels), at the moment the Sun enters tropical Libra. Technically, this Sunday the 25th – the day of our Open House! – is the day of Equilux, where we have the same amount of light as dark. Your hand opens and closes, opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open, you would be paralysed. Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding, the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated as birds’ wings. ~Jalal ad-Din Rumi (30 September 1207-17 December 1273) Rumi, born with a Libra Sun, is a beautiful embodiment of…
