A bit about your privacy & how your information is stored

By now you will be tired of reading about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into effect in the EU on May 25. This new legislation is designed to give you greater security, transparency, and control of your personal data online. The upcoming changes impact companies based in the European Union, or those processing the personal data of people residing in the EU. I do all I can to manage and protect your data, which for most of you includes your name and email address, and in some cases a phone number. If you have had your natal chart interpreted by me, I also keep your time, date…

Another Big Cycle of Endings and Beginnings

Following on from its conjunction with Monday’s inspiring new Moon in the last degrees of Sagittarius (December 18th), Saturn moves into a very potent alignment (known as cazimi, the closest possible conjunction) with our Sun in the early hours of Wednesday, December 20th when it enters its home sign of Capricorn, one day before the Sun marks the winter solstice with its own entry into Capricorn on the 21st. Both the Sun and Saturn will be at 0 degrees of Capricorn at the Solstice, which is extremely rare and auspicious as a point of new beginnings. What does any of that mean and why do I care? This is…

Impermanence is the fountain of youth!

When effort is needed, effort will appear. When effortlessness becomes essential, it will assert itself. You need not push life about. Just flow with it and give yourself completely to the task of the present moment, which is the dying now to the now. For living is dying. Without death, life cannot be. ~ Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj (Important message at the end, if you don’t have time to read it all!) Every day and throughout life we live in cycles – morning-noon-night; active-passive-active-passive – which are set within ever greater cycles: days turn to weeks turn to months turn to years, and on and on. Within each cycle there is…

Dear students and friends in yoga, We certainly are living in interesting times! A plea for mindfulness in mindless times

If we are truly mindful, we can see that nothing is at it appears to be. Looking deeply, as all sages have taught, shows us that the root cause of our suffering can be traced back to our thoughts, and acts of violence that promote further suffering can themselves be traced back to earlier suffering – also stemming from earlier violence, and always caused by ignorance. It doesn’t really matter what or why. The suffering is there and the desire to make another suffer springs from that. Misery loves company, as the saying goes. However much we would like to imagine it so, our spiritual practice and awareness can’t be…

    Healing with Sound

Join Ram Vakkalanka to learn about the profound practice of Nāda Yoga, which he describes as “a combination of philosophy, medicine, metaphysics, and physical yoga, the premise of Nada Yoga is that all things in the Universe, including living beings, are made of sound vibrations, called Nada. It is believed that Nada is the building block of the cosmos and that this energy brings everything together. This connection with sound means that Nada Yoga is often associated with music, harmony, chanting, and how these things can bring beings closer to oneness with the cosmos. Nada is also often used to bring focus to ones energy centers, or Chakra. The use…
