Ubuntu* ~ “I am what I am because of who we all are”
Twenty years ago this month I received my first yoga teacher certification in Goa, India. I didn’t see myself as a teacher at that time, just a seeker who needed to stretch out of the box I had put myself in since my high school years. Anyway, a certificate doesn’t make one a teacher and just as parents are born along with their child, teachers are born from their students. In the months following my training, friends started asking me to teach them something. So, bit by bit, I shared what I knew for free until friends of friends and then strangers started to join in, at which point I figured I was actually becoming a yoga teacher.
Some of you have been with me on this journey almost from the beginning, and others have joined in only recently, yet each of you is the reason I am who I am in what I do, and I’m immensely grateful to you for your presence, your trust and your support. Some days, when I question what I’m doing, a brief message of thanks will pop up like manna from heaven. These apparent crumbs are like a huge feast when I’m doubting my direction, and I thank each of you who has sent me those kind words over the years.
However briefly, our paths have crossed for a reason, and I am so glad to have known you. I hope to see you again at some point along our journey together, and until then send you a big cyber hug and a smile.
This year promises to be one of major transformation for all of us as a collective, and some of us as individuals will also be impelled to make the big changes that have been brewing for some time. I wish you every success in your endeavours, along with abundant good health and a good sense of humour – you’re likely to find it useful as 2017 unfolds!
In numerology (astrology’s close cousin), 2017 is the first year of a 9-year cycle (2+0+1+7 = 10/ 1+0=1), so new beginnings and setting new plans in motion are supported. The 9 year of 2016 was one of tying up loose ends and healing old wounds, and the best way forward is to let go of as much as possible and plan with the coming decade or so in mind. The previous 1 year happened in 2008 – that was the year I separated from my husband and started Inspiration asbl, both major new initiatives in my life that truly set the scene for the past 9 years. “One” years are good for establishing something long-lasting and concrete. What will you create this year? Each of you will also be resonating with your own personal number so the initiating energy of the year will affect you with some nuance.
The lack of clarity and downright deception that dominated 2016 is lifting now, but 2017 will be a year of major adjustments and extremes, and any illusions or deceptions will become more obvious and difficult to ignore. Throughout January, we might find our ideals, life goals and relationships being tested as Saturn continues to push us to Get Real with our lives. If you feel like things aren’t going to plan, just slow down a bit to make the necessary changes (either of your expectations or to the material details – or both!) until the month nears its end.
The competing energies of most of January make it difficult to know where to begin, but if you take the next week or ten days to strategise you will find your way forward as things change following the Cancer full moon on the 12th. Up to the middle of the month, you might find it hard to choose which seeds to plant for the new year as so many things seem to need your attention and we will be pulled in many directions at once.
Challenges around the Internet are likely and will revolve around issues of regulation and censorship. Human rights and freedoms are also going to be highlighted. Don’t take your freedom for granted between now and 2022! Speak up and stand up wherever it is necessary – if we wait for someone else to do it we might be in for an ugly surprise when Saturn meets Pluto in January 2020.
Pluto in Capricorn since late 2008 has been showing us that what we thought our life here on Earth was all about is nothing at all like that! Anything (institutions, monetary systems, social systems, etc.) that is not aligned with nature (in the highest and broadest sense of the word) will necessarily crumble and the next 5 years will show us where and how. This 248-year cycle has happened throughout human history, with empires and civilisations shifting and falling accordingly. The key is to remain centered in your deepest truth, your higher self and your unique purpose, and act from there. You will undoubtedly have a role to play in helping us all through to the coming new era.
Truth-seeking from your personal perspective will be an important part of 2017. Align with your beliefs while constantly examining them for flaws in order to prepare yourself for the restructuring that will take place after Saturn enters Capricorn at the winter solstice in December. Too much of what we are doing makes no sense at all, and we will pay the price if we don’t seriously realign ourselves with what is in our highest interest from now to 2020.
Since 2011, you have been re-engineering key aspects of yourself wherever Aries is in your chart, and this pioneering energy continues apace for the next 2 years. Stretch yourself and be open to shifting your identity in order to fully become the person you came here to be.
For me, this re-engineering thing has been happening in my area of vocation/career. Lately, I have been sensing that it’s time for a big tune-up in the months ahead, and reflecting a lot on the essence of what I do. It boiled down to helping people transform their lives through understanding their true nature and purpose. I have been doing this through yoga classes and therapeutic sessions, spiritual guidance, ayurvedic counselling, mindfulness and astrology.
This year, I have decided to tie it all together in a 12-week online course called Align with Purpose, designed to help find your true purpose and to support your transformation along the way in the 12 major areas of life. For those who are already living their purpose, we will be clearing out any obstacles to your success in each of the 12 important aspects of your life. I’m very excited about this opportunity to work with people who live outside of Brussels, or who simply can’t participate in group sessions for various reasons. More information will follow soon, including how to register for the free introductory webinar which will help you create a vision for your future self whether or not you join the course.
Later this spring I will also be proposing an online version of the Mindful Living Course with live and pre-recorded sessions – so for those of you who would like to attend but are not able to be physically present, this is your solution. As always, course alumni will be able to join the group anytime, free of charge. Watch this space!
Finally, in honour of the Chinese Year of the Rooster, as of Feburary 1st 2017 my fees for astrology consultations will change along with the way in which I offer the various services. If you would like to take advantage of the current fees, you can book and pre-pay an appointment with me up to January 31st (appointments can be set for a later date).
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back — concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.
Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.“
Here’s to a year of wonderful new beginnings!
Much love and light,
